What is facial cupping? Is there a difference between facial cupping and body cupping?

Cupping is an ancient holistic therapy that originated in China.

It’s important to note that Facial Cupping differs from full-body cupping. Our intention is not to leave any markings on the skin.

Facial cupping involves placing glass cups on the skin to create suction. This helps with drawing out impurities from the skin tissues and drains them into the lymph nodes where bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms are destroyed. Cupping pulls the skin away from the deeper layers of skin tissue, resulting in an inflammatory response. This response stimulates healing and regeneration.

Before your appointment:

On the day of your appointment, It is best to avoid alcohol, caffeine, and NSAIDs. Drink plenty of water before you come in, as this will assist in lymphatic drainage.

After your appointment:

It is important to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water particularly in the 24 hours following your treatment, this will help to drain out excess toxins. It is best if you do not consume alcohol, sugary and/or salty foods in the 24 hours following your treatment for best results.

Natural drainage can occur after your appointment and is completely normal. You may feel like you are clearing your throat more often, swallowing more frequently, and have a slightly hoarse voice.

What is the difference between facial cupping and body/back cupping?

During facial cupping, the cups are never static, meaning they are never parked in one place. Instead, they are constantly moving in order to stimulate the skin, increase blood circulation and drain out toxins through your lymphatic system. Our intention is not to leave marks on the skin or the appearance of bruising as in body cupping.
